We all know that raising and supporting our incredible students can be one of the most rewarding yet challenging endeavors we’ll ever undertake. It's like running a marathon, climbing a mountain, and competing in the 61-mile Rosedale Ride, all rolled into one. And, let’s face it, sometimes it feels like we need more than just a good pair of shoes—we need a whole support team.
It truly does take a village to raise a child, especially when that child has unique needs. Whether it’s the teachers here at Rosedale, therapists, doctors, nurses, our amazing TAs, or the kind neighbor who can help out in a pinch, it’s clear that no one can do this alone. We are all in this together, each playing a part to help our students shine bright. Remember, you’re not alone in this incredible, unpredictable journey. There’s a whole squad of people rooting for you—especially your Rosedale Fam!
But let’s talk about you for a second. Yes, you—the unsung superheroes, guardians, and family members. We know it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of meetings, appointments, therapies, and keeping everything running smoothly. But here’s the critical part: You are just as important as your student in this equation. You deserve time to recharge, laugh, and yes, maybe even eat a warm meal while it’s still warm.
Think of it this way: if you don't make time for yourself, you’ll end up like that phone with a 3% battery—about to power down at the most inconvenient time. So, schedule that massage, binge-watch your favorite show (White Lotus anyone?), and remember that self-care is not a luxury—it’s a necessity.
Here’s a little secret: taking a break doesn’t mean you’re not a great caregiver. It makes you a better one! When you care for yourself, you become more present, more patient, and more capable of tackling those everyday challenges that come your way.
So, here’s our suggestion: This weekend, put yourself first. Whether it’s a walk in the park, a nap, or a solo trip to the grocery store without anyone asking for candy, do it. The Rosedale village is here to support you—and that includes reminding you to take care of yourself, too.
Thank you for all you do. You are the true heroes in our children’s lives, and we couldn’t be prouder to support them and you through this journey.
